Mindful Monday: Setting Intentions & Doing the Work!

Happy New Year!

For me, there’s something really exciting about starting a new year!

A new calendar year brings with it the chance to reflect on the year gone by and the opportunity to take stock of where we’re at and where we want to be for the year to come.

The buzz word every January? Resolution.

Everyone is setting goals and making plans to change their ways – and I think setting goals and desiring change is great! But all too often, we set ourselves up for failure with an all or nothing approach, unrealistic expectations, and not enough accountability or support. Let’s change that.

Intention is everything.

I have a tradition that I follow every New Year, a ceremony of sorts, where I take the time to write about 2017; what happened, the challenges and successes, growth, the wonderful moments and the not-so-wonderful moments.


Then I meditate; clearing my mind and opening my heart, so that I’m able to focus on what I desire for the New Year. I write it down - it’s usually very simple. It’s not a long list of stuff but more about how I wish to feel, be and show up. I write it on a beautiful card, seal it, date it, and put it somewhere (where I won’t forget!) to return to at the end of the year.

What does intention mean to me?

It means my focus is on what I deem matters in my life. This gives everything I do meaning and purpose and I gain confidence in why I’m doing what I’m doing. And when I am clear the Universe can then support me.

I lived most of life with no focus or intention. I was on autopilot and life was happening to me.

Now I am co-creating life with the Universe.

It’s empowering and a completely different experience than I ever thought possible! 

It's also a commitment. It takes work. And I have mentors who guide and support me.

Many of the people I work with now are stuck in that same autopilot existence I once found myself in. They know there has to be more to life than what they’re experiencing – they want fulfillment, they want to live to their fullest potential – but what exactly needs to change to get there?

It’s about putting in the work. It’s not easy but it’s worth it…you’re worth it!  

This New Year, I encourage you to commit to putting in the work necessary to make the changes you most desire and to live your best life. To set your intentions and create new habits and ways of thinking and being that will align you with your truest self and provide you with purpose and passion.
