Shedding the Old + Moving Forward

In January, I mentioned that 2026 is the Year of the Horse — specifically, the Fire Horse. But to be precise, we have still been in the Year of the Snake… and this week, we move fully into the dynamic energy of the Fire Horse.

The Snake has been preparing us.

Snake energy is quiet, reflective, and deeply transformative. It sheds its skin because it has outgrown it. It doesn’t rush. It doesn’t force. It simply knows when it is time.

Have you felt like you’ve been shedding old beliefs, identities, fears, or even relationships you’ve outgrown? Many people have shared that this past month has felt exactly like that — tender, introspective, and quietly intense.

It can feel uncomfortable. Raw.

But something within us knows — it is time.

And when the shedding is complete, we do not become someone new.

We become more of our true selves.

We reclaim our divinity, our power, our truth, our autonomy.

Now, as we step into the Fire Horse this week, the energy begins to shift.

The Fire Horse carries strong yang energy — movement, passion, aliveness, forward momentum.

Where the Snake asked us to pause and shed, the Horse invites us to move.

My sister Deb recently sent me a poem. I don’t know who wrote it, but it resonated deeply as the Snake energy is coming to an end.

~ A Final Whisper ~
This is the last skin coming loose.
The part of you that clung the longest.
The identity you almost carried forward.
The story that resisted a clean ending.
And it’s not shedding because you’re trying harder.
It’s shedding because it’s simply time.
This isn’t about pushing.
It’s about pressing gently against the rock.
It’s about finding your ground and letting go from there.
This is where you ARRIVE.
In your bones.
In your breath.
In what’s real.

Whether or not we follow astrology, what resonates for me is this: transformation cannot be forced.

Transformation happens when we are present in our body, in this moment, with a compassionate openness and awareness.

When we relax into our experience — when our nervous system softens — it creates space for light to shine through, for essence to emerge, for true change to occur.

I am deeply grateful for my daily practice of coming home to myself — here and now, in my body, in my life.

Because before this, I was running away from myself and from everything. I was forcing, trying to fix myself or make things happen.

But as they say, “Wherever you go, there you are.”

That has been true for me.

There was no freedom in running. It kept me in a kind of prison. It prolonged the pain. And the deepest pain came from disconnection — from my true essence.

So whether we are moving from Snake to Fire Horse, from one season to another, or simply from one moment to the next, I am continually reminded that my practice remains the same:

To be here.
In the now.
With curiosity.
With compassion.
With awareness.

And to be open to the growth and unfolding of my soul’s journey - 'Hands off the wheel.'

May we be open.
May we be gentle.
May we trust.
May we be free.

With love,
Diane
