Mindful Monday: A Shelter of Kindness Within

In a world filled with noise, chaos, uncertainty, and division, it's easy to feel ungrounded and unsafe.

We often seek comfort and validation externally; however, true solace lies within ourselves.

This morning, I meditated and read a poem, "I am Making a Home Inside Myself," which resonated deeply.

It reminded me of the importance of creating a cozy home within ourselves and finding comfort in our bodies in the present moment.

This is where our power, freedom, and peace reside.

Our journey inward is a remembrance of our divinity and the love that we inherently are.

For many of us, especially women, our relationship with our bodies can be complicated. Society has conditioned us to believe that our value is based on our appearance rather than who we are. This conditioning often starts young and becomes deeply ingrained in our collective consciousness. We learn to doubt and question our bodies and, to a greater extent, ourselves.

For most of my life, I struggled with an unhealthy relationship with my body. I've experienced shame, discomfort, and a constant feeling of not being good enough, regardless of my actual appearance.

Today, my practice is simple and profoundly transformative. It's a somatic practice of tuning into how my body feels, how I respond or react, and listening with care, compassion, and curiosity.

The key is treating ourselves, our emotions, and our feelings with the gentleness we would show a child. When our inner child feels safe and held, things naturally change. Our nervous system relaxes, and we become less reactive, calmer, and more present.

In a world that can feel harsh and uncertain, where our autonomy is being challenged, we must remember that no one can take away our ability to be grounded in our bodies and treat them like temples.

Our power lies in our willingness to be present, to live authentically, and to honour our true essence.

We are divine beings of all sizes, shapes, and colours with unique personalities and talents. No one is exactly the same as us in the world. We are a beautiful, unique expression of the Divine.

Our bodies are part of our soul's experience in this physical world, but who we are is not confined to our physical form. By grounding ourselves in our bodies, we can experience the boundlessness of our souls.

What if we could treat ourselves with the love we would have for a dear child?

What if our peace, true power, and freedom come from within, merely requiring us to stop and listen?

Our strength lies in this present moment, in the sacred vessel that is our body.

As we navigate life's challenges, let's remember to turn inward, find solace within ourselves, and treat our bodies and spirits with the love and respect they deserve. This is where true peace and empowerment reside.

It's time for us to be gentle with ourselves, love ourselves more, and love each other more.

When we are aware of our true essence while standing in solidarity with each other, love and greatness abound.

If you feel the pain and limitations of trying to control your outer world, of trying be something you think you should be rather than rooting into the center of who you truly are, I invite you to join me and my new online course starting in the new year.

This is a safe and sacred space for women to come together, explore their desires and passions, dissolve any blocks, and feel supported. More information will be coming soon.

Love,

Diane

I am making a home inside myself  by Julia Fehrenbacher

I am making a home inside myself.
A shelter of kindness where everything is forgiven, everything allowed—a quiet patch of sunlight to stretch out without hurry,
where all that has been banished and buried is welcomed, spoken, listened to—released.

A fiercely friendly place I can claim as my very own.
I am throwing arms open to the whole of myself—especially the fearful, fault-finding, falling apart, unfinished parts, knowing
every seed and weed, every drop of rain, has made the soil richer.

I will light a candle, pour a hot cup of tea, gather
around the warmth of my own blazing fire. I will howl
if I want to, knowing this flame can burn through
any perceived problem, any prescribed perfectionism,
any lying limitation, every heavy thing.

I am making a home inside myself
where grace blooms in grand and glorious
abundance, a shelter of kindness that grows
all the truest things.
