Mindful Monday: The Art of Slowing Down
I love this time of year. The air feels fresh, the energy softer, calmer.
It feels like an invitation — to slow down, breathe deeper, to listen.
I went for a hike in the woods this weekend, and it was so beautiful and peaceful. I could feel everything beginning to quiet.
As I walked, I noticed how each tree stood in its own truth — some still full and colourful, others already bare. Each tree was honouring its own journey. None of them was rushing or comparing with each other. There was pure allowing.
Witnessing this sense of allowing brought me into the present moment, effortlessly.
Nature — she is our teacher.
There are many gifts in slowing down.
Many people believe they don’t have time to slow down — but is that really true?
Even now, in this very moment, we can pause and take a deep breath.
Slowing down doesn’t mean we won’t get things done.
In fact, when we relax into life, we often find ourselves more present, more in flow, and surprisingly more efficient.
When we soften the tension in our bodies and quiet the mind, something opens within us:
Space. Peace. Clarity.
In that spaciousness, we reconnect — to our bodies, to the moment, and to our essence.
Sometimes we even bring that same “hustle energy” to our spiritual journey — trying to reach a goal, peace, or some perfect version of ourselves. I know did for many, many years.
But our essence isn’t striving. It doesn’t need to get anywhere. It simply is.
The only way to experience our true nature is right now.
It’s not in the future. It’s here — in this breath.
This week, I had a beautiful conversation with someone who told me they were stepping away from their spiritual path. They had been trying all sorts of practices and modalities — it all felt like too much efforting. They said, “I just want to slow down.”
I smiled and said, “That’s wonderful — you’re honouring your truth. You sound so clear and grounded. And for what it’s worth, it seems to me that you’re not stepping away from your path — you’re stepping onto it - your unique path, no one else's, and you are deciding what it looks like." She agreed. And in that moment, I could see her whole body soften and relax.
Because for me, slowing down and being here now is the path.
There’s no A+. No finish line. No endgame.
Just this — a life lived moment by moment, breath by breath, with gratitude in our hearts.
As we move through Fall, may we also remember that we are part of nature’s rhythm — a reflection of her cycles of growth, release, and renewal. Like the trees, we too can trust the timing of our own unfolding.
With this in mind, I’m offering a Women’s Tapping Circle, as well as a Day Retreat, Come Home to Yourself — both beautiful opportunities to slow down, relax, let go, and feel renewed.
And this week, may we all explore what it feels like to slow down and move with the gentle rhythm of life — even as we eat, walk, speak, or breathe, allowing presence to guide each simple moment.
