Mindful Monday: brother-in-laws + sunflowers....a little kindness goes a long way.

Mindful Monday:  brother-in-laws + sunflowers....a little kindness goes a long way.

There are some people who have a naturally positive, kind and giving way about them. Do you know anyone like this? I do, my brother-in-law Rob.

Every Sunday, for several months of the year, Rob gives the women in our family a sunflower - just because!  He loves sunflowers. They make him happy and he wants to share his happiness with us.

Pretty amazing, right?

Whenever I look at the sunflower it makes me happy too – even more so because I think of how thoughtful Rob is.

“This is my simple religion. No need for temples. No need for complicated philosophy. Your own mind, your own heart is the temple. Your philosophy is simple kindness.”

~ Dalai Lama

We are powerful beings.

We can brighten someone's day simply by being present and opening our heart to loving kindness.

What do you think the world would be like if each of us chose this path? To perform a simple random act of kindness, every day.

I believe it would make a huge difference.

These acts don't need to be grand gestures.

It can be as simple as:

* Smiling at someone as you walk by them on the street

* Telling someone how much you love or appreciate them, rather than just thinking it

* Saying 'thank-you' to a cashier as you look him/her directly in the eye

* Cooking a delicious meal for someone you care about (this is what I love to do!)

I hope Rob's sunflower brightens your day as much as it does mine.

Perhaps you would like to pay it forward and offer someone an act of kindness today - just because.

With loving-kindness,

Diane
